The Gateway Building at Durham Academy establishes a new entry to campus, and anchors the south side of a large, open courtyard in the center of campus. The multi-use building contains administration offices, classrooms, science labs, a maker space, a re-configurable meeting room, and two story gathering space with terraced seating.

The exterior combination of brick, panelized rainscreen, and large expanses of glass highlight the public spaces and harmonize with the other campus buildings and landscaping.

A large bi-facial solar panel array provides shade and rain protection at the entry of the building while also off setting carbon and electricity costs for the building.
